The Station

The idea and concept of The Bay FM was the brainchild of Mike Martin, an old guy with a young brain and heart.
Having been interested in radio since his youth in the days of the pirate stations such as Radio Caroline and Radio London, and also having dabbled in internet radio for a few years, he began to realize that there was no independent English language radio station for the Campo de Gibraltar area. There were a multitude of stations on the Costa del Sol bringing music, news and information to that area, which with their powerful transmitters of course we could listen to, but there was a gap in information for this area. So, was born the idea of Bay FM. Mike then set to work in the summer of 2009 to create an English language station especially for the Campo de Gibraltar area. With a range of music to suit all ages and tastes, local news, discussion programmes and interviews on local topics, something for the ladies in the afternoons, and not forgetting the younger generation with specialist evening and weekend programmes, including the very vibrant local band scene.
Mike was joined in the creation of the station by Frankie Hatton, an experienced radio presenter and well known personality in this area. Having been a broadcaster on BFBS Gibraltar and presenter with GBC television, he is now our Station Manager and Programme Controller. He will also be presenting the drive time show "The Frankie Factor" from 3pm until 7pm each afternoon. Also joining our staff and line-up is Noelle Hoth, described as a Texan with attitude, she will be presenting our breakfast show from 7am until 11am, who is also our advertising manager.
